In a recent drug bust in Tamale, the Northern Regional Police Command confiscated a significant quantity of illegal medications, including 400 boxes of Tramadol. A 53-year-old man, Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, was arrested for unlawfully possessing and selling these controlled substances.

The operation took place on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, around 1:30 p.m., following intelligence reports. Alhaji Sayuti operates an Over-The-Counter (OTC) chemical store located near Victory Cinema in Aboabo. During a search of his store, police discovered 368 blisters of Tramadol and 298 blisters of Tramaking, both potent opioids banned by Ghanaian law.

Further investigations led the police to a warehouse at Sayuti’s home in the Fuo suburb of Tamale, where they found an astonishing 447 boxes of Tramadol and 11 boxes of Tramadol.

After being charged with possession of restricted substances and unauthorised sales, Alhaji Sayuti pleaded guilty when arraigned in court on Wednesday, July 16, 2025. He has been remanded into custody, with his next court appearance scheduled for July 21, 2025.
