Ghana Makes Hajj More Affordable with $1,000 Reduction

The government of Ghana, under President John Dramani Mahama, has announced a significant reduction in the 2025 Hajj fare.

The new fare has been decreased by approximately $1,000 (13,000 Ghana Cedis), making it more affordable for Ghanaian pilgrims.

The revised fare is now GH¢62,000, down from GH¢75,000 in 2024. When converted to dollars at a rate of 15 cedis per dollar, the new fare amounts to $4,130.

According to Hon. Collins Dauda, lead of the Ghana Hajj Taskforce, this reduction aligns with President Mahama’s campaign promise to make Hajj more accessible. Notably, the new fare is the lowest in the sub-region, falling below the average cost of $5,000.

The fare includes round-trip flights, accommodation in Makkah and Madina, food, and all other essential Hajj logistics.

This year, Ghana’s total quota for pilgrims is 5,000.
