Abdul Latif Abubakar Wins Best Project Management Prize at 2025 Sky Africa Awards

A Ghanaian project manager Abdul Latif Abubakar has clinched the Best Project Management Prize in Africa at the prestigious Sky Africa Awards 2025, held in Yaoundé, Cameroon. The event, which brought together top dignitaries from across the continent and beyond, celebrated outstanding individuals driving impact in various sectors.

The award was presented in the presence of H.E. Paul Biya, President of Cameroon, former Ecuadorian President Rosalía Arteaga, U.S. Ambassador Christopher Lamora, British High Commissioner Matt Woods, Cameroon’s Minister of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, Social Economy and Handicrafts, Achille BASSILEKIN III, and Leonie Bwemba, founder of the Sky Africa Awards.

Speaking after receiving the award, the honoree expressed pride in the recognition and noted that the win was based solely on merit. “This recognition came purely from my achievements and success stories. I was even recommended by the U.S. Ambassador in Cameroon, who is familiar with some of my work,” He said.

Mr Abdul Latif Abubakar emphasised the importance of project management as a strategic tool for growth and development across industries and national economies.“I feel fulfilled. It means the important role project management plays in our organisations and countries has finally been recognised,” he added.

Looking ahead, the award winner plans to scale their impact by establishing a global knowledge-sharing platform.“My goal is to create a platform where I can share my knowledge and experiences with more people across the globe,” he said.When asked about advice for young people, Mr. Abdul Latif urged them to consider careers in project management.“Try to acquire project management skills. It’s one of the few disciplines that cut across all industries. It’s very relevant to the growth and development of an organisation, a nation, and even a person’s career,” he advised.
