
In a significant step toward strengthening the longstanding ties between Ghana and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, a General Cooperation Agreement was signed on Monday, 20 October 2025 in Accra.
The agreement, signed by Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and Regional Integration, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa (MP); and His Excellency Eng. Waleed El-Khereiji, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will serve as a comprehensive framework to guide and enhance cooperation between the two nations.

In his opening remarks, Hon. Okudzeto Ablakwa underscored the historic and friendly relations between Ghana and Saudi Arabia, which date back to 1960, highlighting the two countries’ shared commitment to peace, security, and development.
For his part, the Saudi Vice Minister reaffirmed his government’s determination to deepen bilateral cooperation and promote regional and international peace and stability for mutual benefit.
Prior to the diplomatic consultations, H.E. Eng. El-Khereiji and his delegation paid a courtesy call on the President of the Republic, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, at the Jubilee House.
This latest engagement reaffirms both nations’ dedication to building stronger diplomatic, economic, and cultural ties for the prosperity of their people.
