Ghana is mourning the loss of one of its most remarkable women. Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, the former First Lady and wife of the late President Jerry John Rawlings, has died at Ridge Hospital in Accra. She was 76 years old.
Family members confirmed that she passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.
Late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings wasn’t just known as a First Lady — she was a trailblazer for women’s empowerment, a fearless leader, and in 2016, she made history by becoming the first woman to run for president in Ghana.
