The administration’s commitment to developing more economical and effective public transportation networks nationwide has been reaffirmed by President John Dramani Mahama.
He stated that in addition to establishing a robust regulatory framework to guarantee the safe and responsible operation of motorbikes and tricycles for passenger transportation, the government is also putting in place a three-day Transport and Logistics Fair in Accra. All of these initiatives are a part of a larger strategy based on sustainability, safety, and order, according to President Mahama.
The event, organised by Digital Eye with support from the Ministry of Transport, is themed “Resetting Ghana’s Transport Sector for Improved Connectivity, Innovation and Investment.”
Calling the exhibition a landmark milestone, President John Mahama said it showcases Ghana’s bold commitment to rebuilding its transport and logistics systems around modern technology, innovation, and sustainability.
He explained that under the Reset Agenda, the government is working to cut down carbon emissions, boost electric vehicle infrastructure, and attract green investments that will make transport cleaner and more eco-friendly.
Joseph Bukari Nikpe, Transport Minister says Ghana is moving closer to reviving a national airline, a key milestone in the country’s transport renewal efforts.
He revealed that the ministry has also introduced modern passenger information systems designed to boost safety and security for travellers.
According to him, expansion works at Kotoka International Airport are well underway, while repairs at the Tema Harbour breakwater continue. Plans are also in motion to upgrade public transport services through Metro Mass Transit and Intercity STC to make travel more efficient and reliable.
In order to provide employment for young people, Togbe Afede XIV, the Paramount Chief of Asogli, urged the government to keep up economic stability and to keep investing in the transportation industry.
