PAOG Confirms 42 Accredited Hajj Agents for 2026 Pilgrimage

The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana (PAOG) has officially released the list of forty-two accredited Hajj agents approved by the Hajj Agents Association of Ghana (HAAG) for the 2026 pilgrimage. The announcement, made through a press release to all media houses, is part of efforts to ensure transparency and protect prospective pilgrims from fraudulent activities.

According to PAOG, the approved agents have undergone a thorough vetting and confirmation process to guarantee that only credible individuals and organizations handle the affairs of Ghanaian pilgrims preparing for the holy journey to Mecca next year.

“The general public, particularly all intending pilgrims for Hajj 2026, are strongly advised to deal only with these approved and accredited agents to avoid any inconvenience or fraudulent activities,” the statement read.

The Office further emphasized its commitment to maintaining the integrity of Ghana’s Hajj operations by working closely with HAAG and other relevant institutions. “PAOG remains committed to working closely with all stakeholders to ensure a smooth, transparent, and successful Hajj operation for the year 2026,” it added.

In an interview following the release, a senior official from PAOG, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the move was necessary to prevent cases of exploitation that have in the past affected some pilgrims. “Every year we hear of people being defrauded by unaccredited agents who promise cheaper or faster arrangements. This year, we are taking proactive steps to stop that by making the official list public early enough,” the official explained.

He also assured that PAOG would continue to monitor the operations of the approved agents to ensure compliance with set standards. “Accreditation is not the end; we will be watching closely to make sure all agents uphold integrity and provide the best service to pilgrims,” he said.

A representative of the Hajj Agents Association of Ghana (HAAG), Alhaji Sulemana Tanko, also welcomed the development, describing it as “a necessary step toward professionalism and accountability in Hajj organization.” He noted that the collaboration between HAAG and PAOG has improved coordination and trust among stakeholders. “This partnership ensures that all agents operate under clear guidelines and that the welfare of pilgrims remains the top priority,” he added.

Several intending pilgrims have expressed appreciation for the publication of the official list, saying it provides clarity and assurance. “It’s a good move. At least now we know who to trust with our payments and travel arrangements,” said Amina Mohammed, a resident of Tamale planning to perform Hajj next year.

The full list of accredited Hajj agents, according to PAOG, is attached to the statement and available on its official platforms for public verification.

The 2026 Hajj pilgrimage is expected to attract thousands of Ghanaian Muslims, and authorities say preparations have already begun to make the journey a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience for all participants.
