National Chief Imam Appoints Alhaji Osumanu Seidu as Executive Secretary

The National Chief Imam of the Republic of Ghana, Sheikh Dr Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, has appointed Alhaji Osumanu Seidu as the new Executive Secretary of the Office of the National Chief Imam, with immediate effect.

The appointment, dated 30 December 2025, was communicated to Regional Chief Imams, heads of Islamic organisations, public institutions and media houses nationwide. It follows the recent passing of the former Executive Secretary, which created an administrative vacancy at the Secretariat.

In an official statement, the Office explained that Alhaji Osumanu Seidu’s appointment is aimed at ensuring continuity in the administration of the Office. He previously worked closely with the late Executive Secretary for several years and is therefore considered well-positioned to preserve institutional memory.

Confirming the appointment in a letter addressed to Alhaji Osumanu Seidu, Sheikh Dr Sharubutu said, “Your appointment is necessary to ensure continuity and preservation of institutional memory.”

He further urged the new Executive Secretary to uphold the values of the Office, noting, “It is expected of you to uphold the sanctity, integrity and credibility of the Office to the best of your ability.”

The National Chief Imam expressed confidence in Alhaji Osumanu Seidu’s capacity to serve diligently and called on Islamic leaders, institutions and stakeholders to give him the necessary cooperation and support as he assumes his new role.
