Saudi Arabia’s General Presidency for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced the list of imams who will lead the nightly Taraweeh prayers at Masjid Al Haram in Makkah during the holy month of Ramadan 1447 AH (2026).
According to the announcement, seven senior and widely respected imams will take turns leading the special night prayers, which are performed after Isha throughout Ramadan and attract millions of worshippers from across the Muslim world.
The appointed imams are:
- President Sheikh Abdur Rahman As-Sudais
- Sheikh Maher Al-Muaiqly
- Sheikh Abdullah Awad Al-Juhany
- Sheikh Bandar Baleelah
- Sheikh Yasir Ad-Dawsary
- Sheikh Badr Al-Turki
- Sheikh Waleed Al-Shamsan
Sheikh Abdur Rahman As-Sudais, who serves as President of the General Presidency, is one of the most recognisable Qur’an reciters globally and has led prayers at the Grand Mosque for decades. The remaining imams are also renowned for their mastery of Qur’anic recitation and long-standing service at Masjid Al Haram.
Taraweeh prayers hold deep spiritual significance during Ramadan and are traditionally performed in congregation. Masjid Al Haram records some of the largest nightly prayer gatherings in the world during the holy month, with services also broadcast internationally.
While the list of imams has been confirmed, the official Taraweeh prayer schedule detailing the specific nights each imam will lead is expected to be released in the coming weeks by mosque authorities.
The news team at HAFIZ TV will be closely monitoring developments and will bring viewers all updates, official schedules, and related information as they are announced.
Ramadan 1447 AH is expected to begin in early 2026, subject to the sighting of the moon.
