The executives of the Manar Islamic Association have honoured businessman and philanthropist, Alhaji Abass Dawud for his outstanding contributions to youth empowerment and social advocacy.
The citation, presented earlier today, recognised his commitment to fighting drug abuse, curbing violence, and promoting responsible behaviour among young people.
Alhaji Dawud, a well-known figure in both business and community service, has over the years combined his entrepreneurial success with active involvement in humanitarian and social causes. Beyond his role as a successful businessman, he is widely respected as a youth development advocate and an outspoken activist against the use of illicit drugs.
Accepting the citation, Alhaji Dawud expressed gratitude to the association for the honour and reaffirmed his dedication to the causes he champions. “May God bless, straighten and strengthen us all,” he said, urging the youth to embrace discipline, education, and positive lifestyle.
The award also highlights his work in raising awareness against reckless driving, a campaign he believes is essential to saving lives and protecting communities. His advocacy, captured in his frequent messages such as #SayNoToDrugAbuse, #SayNoToViolence, and #SayNoToRecklessDriving, continues to inspire many young people across the country.
The Manar Islamic Association praised Alhaji Dawud’s consistency in promoting moral values and his hands-on approach to addressing societal challenges. They noted that his work goes beyond words, as he actively engages in outreach programmes, mentorship, and community development initiatives aimed at creating opportunities for the youth.
