Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji Enstooled as Tauraruwa Kanuri and First Lady of Barebari Association of Ghana

Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji has been enstooled as Tauraruwa Kanuri/Barebari Ghana and First Lady of the Barebari Association of Ghana, in recognition of her contributions to community development and humanitarian service.

The installation ceremony marked a significant moment for the Kanuri, also known as Barebari, community in Ghana, celebrating leadership, service, and commitment to social welfare. Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji is the wife of *Commissioner of Police (COP) Alhaji Mohammed Suraj, who currently serves as *President of the Barebari Association of Ghana.

Traditional leaders, community elders, religious figures, and members of the association attended the event, which highlighted the growing role of women in community leadership and development within traditional structures.

The title Tauraruwa Kanuri is regarded as one of honour and responsibility, bestowed on individuals who demonstrate dedication to unity, social progress, and the preservation of cultural values. As First Lady of the Barebari Association, Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji is expected to play a leading role in advancing initiatives that support women, children, and vulnerable members of the community.

Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji and her husband have been instrumental in several community-focused initiatives across the country. Their work includes support for orphans, the provision of boreholes to underdeveloped communities, and sustained engagement in humanitarian and social development projects.

Their efforts have had a significant impact within Muslim and Zongo communities across Ghana, where they are widely recognised for promoting compassion, social responsibility, and inclusive development.

Community leaders described the installation as a recognition of both her personal commitment to service and the broader contributions made by the Suraji family to the welfare of Kanuri and Zongo communities nationwide.

The ceremony concluded with prayers for guidance and success as Hajia Zenatu Adam Suraji assumes her new responsibilities in service to the community.
