Iqra Educational Centre Marks 12th Graduation, Reaffirms Commitment to Islamic and Holistic Education

Iqra Educational Centre has marked its 12th graduation ceremony with a colourful display of academic achievement, Islamic values and student talent, bringing together pupils, parents, teachers, school management and invited guests to celebrate another milestone in the institution’s educational journey .

The graduation ceremony featured a range of activities by the graduating students, including Quran recitations in different categories, drama and acting, as well as a series of cultural and creative performances.

The various presentations provided students with an opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge, confidence, creativity and talents beyond the classroom.

Outstanding students were recognised with awards for their academic performance, while members of staff were also honoured for their contribution to the development of the school and its pupils.

Zulaiha Ibrahim, a teacher at Iqra Educational Centre’s Dzorwulu branch, described the ceremony as a successful celebration and thanked parents, teachers, management and other stakeholders for their support.

She said the graduation was particularly significant as students progressed to the next stages of their education.

“We saw beautiful Quran recitations, a lot of talents today, and Alhamdulillah, the deserving students were awarded. The staff were also awarded.”

Education beyond the classroom

The school says its approach goes beyond academic instruction, with emphasis on Islamic values, character development, critical thinking and leadership.

According to Ibrahim, the institution is seeking to equip pupils with the ability to think critically and innovatively as they prepare for a rapidly changing world.

“We are trying to build leaders that can think critically, innovatively, to help shape the generations coming,” she said.

She explained that the school’s educational philosophy is anchored in its mission to “nurture hearts for Islam”, while preparing pupils to participate meaningfully in society.

The performances at the graduation reflected this broader approach, with students combining religious learning with drama, acting and other forms of creative expression.

Quranic knowledge takes centre stage

Quran recitation was one of the major highlights of the ceremony, with graduating students participating in different categories.

The recitations provided a strong reflection of the school’s Islamic identity and its efforts to integrate religious education into the broader learning experience.

For the institution, the development of pupils’ spiritual and moral character remains as important as their academic progress.

Ibrahim said the school wants to produce graduates who can excel academically while remaining firmly connected to their faith and values.

“We want to see our students there — socially, politically, academically, everywhere,” she said.

Parents commend the school

Parents who attended the ceremony also praised the institution for its approach to education and child development.

Ibrahim Alhassan Mola, a parent with three children at Iqra Educational Centre, said the school’s combination of academic and Islamic education influenced his decision to enrol his children there.

“It’s the best in town. I have no other choice but to choose Iqra because of the way they teach the kids, Islamically, and I am very much okay with their style of teaching,” he said.

He also described the school as a safe environment where children receive proper care and guidance.

Students celebrate their achievements

The graduation was particularly significant for the students, who celebrated the completion of another stage of their education.

One of the pupils, who was recognised as the Best Academic Student, said she was happy and proud of her achievement.

She also credited the school with helping to improve her confidence, particularly in writing and language.

The recognition of outstanding pupils formed part of the ceremony’s broader celebration of academic excellence and student development.

Vision for the future

As it looks ahead, Iqra Educational Centre says it is working towards expanding its educational opportunities.

Ibrahim disclosed plans for the establishment of an Islamic senior high school and, eventually, a university under the Iqra Educational Centre name.

She said the long-term vision is to create an institution capable of nurturing students from their early years through higher education while maintaining a strong Islamic foundation.

The school also expressed appreciation to its management, teachers and parents for their sacrifices and continued support.

Ibrahim said the efforts of teachers in particular should be recognised, noting that their work and sacrifices have contributed significantly to the achievements of the students.

As the 12th graduation came to a close, the combination of Quranic recitations, drama, acting, creative performances and academic awards provided a fitting celebration of the students’ achievements.

For Iqra Educational Centre, the occasion was not simply a graduation ceremony but a reflection of its broader ambition: to raise confident, academically capable and morally grounded young people prepared to contribute to their families, communities and the wider society.
