Ayawaso East MP McNaza Passes Away

Member of Parliament for the Ayawaso East Constituency, Naser Toure Mahama has passed away, sources close to his family have disclosed.

Mr Mahama, born on 17 March 1965, was a Ghanaian politician who served on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress. He first entered Parliament in 2012 and remained in active service until his death, representing Ayawaso East in the Greater Accra Region. Over the years, he served in the Seventh Parliament of the Fourth Republic of Ghana and was, until recently, a member of the Ninth Parliament.

According to family sources, the lawmaker passed away after a period of ill health. Details surrounding the circumstances of his death are yet to be formally communicated, as the family prepares to make an official announcement.

Naser Toure Mahama was known in Parliament as a committed legislator with a strong interest in constituency welfare and national development. His long tenure, spanning more than a decade, made him one of the familiar faces in the House, where he contributed to debates and parliamentary business across successive terms.

A source close to the family said the late MP remained devoted to public service until the end, describing him as calm, approachable and deeply connected to his constituents. News of his death has since drawn messages of sympathy from colleagues, party members and residents of Ayawaso East, many of whom have expressed shock and sadness.

The National Democratic Congress is expected to issue a formal statement in the coming days, while Parliament is also anticipated to announce official arrangements in line with parliamentary tradition.

In line with Islamic tradition, the family has announced that Janazah prayer for the late Hon. McNaza will be observed at the National Mosque Kanda, tomorrow 10:00am Burial is expected to take place shortly after, at the Madina Cemetery.
