Rawlings Family Pays Tribute to Late Matriarch with Muslim Community at National Mosque

The family of the late Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, led by Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, MP for Klottey Korle, joined the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Nuhu Sharabutu, and the Muslim community for prayers at the National Mosque in Kanda on Friday.

The delegation, comprising about 20 family members, including Yaa Asantewaa, Amina, and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings, expressed their gratitude to the Chief Imam for leading a high-powered delegation to console them following the former First Lady’s passing.

Dr Agyeman-Rawlings highlighted the strong bond between the Rawlings family and the Muslim community, forged during her parents’ time in office. “The harmony between the two major religions in Ghana was a deliberate effort that happened during the time of President Rawlings,” she said.

She noted that Ghana’s interfaith marriages were a testament to this harmony and assured the Muslim community that the family would continue to nurture this relationship. “We are here to let you know that the passing of His Excellency and Her Excellency is not the end of the relationship that we share with the Community,” Dr Agyeman-Rawlings stated.

The family invited the Muslim community to the State Funeral of Nana Konadu Agyeman-Rawlings, scheduled for Friday, 28 November 2025, at the Independence Square.

Sheikh Sharabutu and the Muslim community have been acknowledged for their condolences and solidarity, reflecting the strong interfaith ties in Ghana.
