One of Ghana’s most sought-after sportsmen, Coach Ibrahim Tanko, has emphasised the importance of self-discipline among players as he joins Tarkwa-based Medeama on a two-and-a-half-year deal.
Following the announcement, the UEFA Pro Licence Holder outlined his core values of unity, discipline, and hard work at his first press conference.
“You need discipline in the group to achieve what you want. You have to be disciplined, and you have to work hard,” Tanko said. “I told the players, ‘You are playing for one of the best clubs in Ghana, and you must give your best. That is what we are going to do.’”
Known as “Bullet,” the former Borussia Dortmund star joins the Mauve and Yellows after a three-year stint with Accra Lions, who finished second in the 2023-24 Ghana Premier League standings.
Tanko brings a wealth of experience to Medeama, having worked in Japan’s J League and Germany’s Bundesliga.
He has also served as an assistant coach for Cameroon’s Indomitable Lions, Ghana’s Black Meteors, and the Black Galaxies.
