The Institute of Chartered Accountants Ghana (ICAG) has once again demonstrated its commitment to promoting diversity and inclusion within the accounting profession by hosting an Islamic Thanksgiving service at the National Mosque in Accra.
The ceremony, part of the ICAG’s 2025 Accountants Week Celebration, was themed “Leveraging the Transformative Power of Artificial Intelligence: The Role of Professional Accountants.”
In his address, ICAG President, Mr. Augustine Addo, underscored the importance of ethics, integrity, and professional judgment in accountancy, highlighting their alignment with Islamic values. He noted that accounting is critical in ensuring transparency and accountability, particularly in emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
In his prayers, the National Chief Imam sought guidance and protection for accountants while acknowledging their contributions to nation-building. He emphasised the significance of the accounting profession in promoting good governance and economic development.
Mr. Yusif Geoffrey, President of the Ghana Association of Muslim Accountants (GAMA), highlighted the association’s commitment to promoting good governance, economic growth, and social welfare. He also advocated for improved management of Hajj operations in Ghana, emphasising the need for transparency and accountability.
Mrs. Rahmah Boamah Boakye, former Women’s Commissioner of GAMA, speaking to HAFIZ TV, emphasised the importance of unity among Muslim accountants and professionals in making a positive impact.
She encouraged women to leverage their skills to drive development and promote Islamic values while making meaningful contributions to their communities and professions.
The Islamic Thanksgiving service is a testament to ICAG’s commitment to fostering interfaith dialogue and promoting diversity within the accounting profession.
ICAG aims to create a more inclusive environment for professionals from diverse backgrounds by engaging with Islamic leaders and organisations.
