Poverty Alleviation: Direct Aid offers Business Support to vulnerable families

Direct Aid Society Ghana has launched its economic empowerment program in Agona Swedru, Central Region, intending to lift vulnerable families out of poverty.

The initiative had previously been implemented in Greater Accra and the Eastern Region targeted five families comprising 20 individuals and involved setting up various businesses for them. For this round of support, 5 women were supported with capital and stocks to start 5 businesses: beverage distribution, Food Retail, Household Supplies, Sanitation and Hygiene Supplies and Food Service (Catering and Food Vending)

The total investment for the program was GHS 240,000. In an interview with HAFIZ TV, Mr. Suleman Adam, human resource manager of Direct Aid Society Ghana, stated that the program is part of the organization’s objectives to alleviate poverty in Ghana and discourage people from begging.

The organization focuses on providing rescue aid and humanitarian support to those in need, aligning with its broader mission to support vulnerable communities and promote economic development.

Direct Aid Society Ghana’s initiatives go beyond economic empowerment. The organization has established schools, constructed boreholes, provided scholarships to needy but brilliant students, and offered free cataract eye surgery, among other projects across Ghana and the world. These initiatives have made a significant impact on the lives of many families and individuals in Ghana.

The program’s beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the life-changing support, which has equipped them with the skills and resources needed to become economically stable.

“We are grateful to Allah for his grace in making Direct Aid come to our rescue as old women here in Agona Swedru. We’re really grateful we pray for Allah’s blessings on their life for great health and wealth for them to do more,” said Rukaya Alhassan, one of the beneficiary

By empowering vulnerable families and providing them with the support they need, Direct Aid Society Ghana is helping create a more sustainable and equitable society in Agona Swedru and Ghana. The organization’s efforts are expected to have a lasting impact on the community, improving the livelihoods of many families and contributing to the region’s economic development.
