NSAWAM, (Hafiz TV) — The Direct Aid Society, an international charity organization, has launched a new radio station, Baraka FM 98.7, in Nsawam-Ahowdwo, Eastern Region, Ghana.

The station aims to serve residents of the Eastern Region by providing a constructive and alternative voice. It will focus on news, current affairs, and community issues to promote social cohesion and community development.

Speaking at the launch, Mr Sami Henendek Ahmed, Country Director of the Direct Aid Society, expressed his joy over the opening of the station.

“I can’t express my happiness today for the commissioning of Al Baraka FM. My intention of starting this project is for the benefit of humanity,” he said. “Allah created all of us, and it is our hope that this station will provide adequate information for the betterment of our society.”

Baraka FM, named after the Arabic word meaning “blessing,” will broadcast in Hausa and other local languages spoken in the Eastern Region. According to its management, it aims to offer a safe platform for conversations among residents who feel sidelined by partisan media outlets.

“The media plays a significant role in our lives, as important as lawyers or doctors. I advise all journalists here and elsewhere to always speak the truth. Inform the people accurately without exaggeration,” Mr. Sami Henendek emphasized.

There are currently about 500 radio stations in Ghana, each addressing different societal needs. Baraka FM aims to stand out by fostering unity and providing a voice for marginalized communities.

Established in 1981 in Kuwait as an international non-governmental organization, the Direct Aid Society has been committed to reducing poverty and disease worldwide. Over the years, it has provided scholarships, infrastructure, and social and economic support to millions of people.
