Waste management company Zoomlion Ghana has recognized and rewarded one of its employees, Mr. Ibrahim Salifu, for his remarkable display of honesty and integrity. Mr. Salifu, a sanitation worker in the Tamale metropolitan area of Northern Ghana, discovered GH₵20,000 in a waste bag during his routine duties and returned it to its rightful owner.
His selfless act has earned him widespread admiration across the country. Mr. Salifu explained that his decision to return the money was driven by his strong Islamic principles, which forbid taking what does not belong to him. “I’ve never owned GH₵20,000, but I thought about the need to reset Ghana together. I couldn’t spend someone else’s money and tarnish my reputation,” he stated.
In a formal announcement, Zoomlion Ghana Limited commended Mr. Salifu’s integrity, calling his actions a shining example of responsibility.
“To honor this act of integrity, we rewarded Mr. Ibrahim with an undisclosed amount of Ghana cedis, U.S. dollars, and a motorbike to assist with his transportation,” the company announced.
This gesture reinforces the company’s commitment to its core values of integrity and community focus, which are fundamental to its operations.
Mr. Salifu’s remarkable act not only gained him admiration but also established him as a role model for others to emulate.
